Brookfield Place Sydney wins Regional Award of Excellence for Best Tall Building 2022

Brookfield Place Sydney has been selected for a Regional Award of Excellence for Best Tall Building 2022 by the Council in Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH).

The annual CTBUH Award Program recognises extraordinary contributions to the advancement of tall buildings and the urban environment. Awards are given in more than twenty categories for best tall buildings, urban habitat, innovation, renovation, interior design, construction, and engineering. Winners in each category present their projects to a live audience and jury at an international conference.

Brookfield Properties appointed Architectus as Executive Architect to work with Make Architects on the landmark Brookfield Place Sydney project following the Architectus-designed Stage 1 DA and subsequent international design competition process – from the design concept to construction completion.

Architectus Principal Robert Ousey said, “It is an honour to have this project be recognised on an international scale by the Council in Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat. We thoroughly enjoyed collaborating with Brookfield Properties and Make Architects on a transformative project that delivers enormous benefit to a broad spectrum of users: office tenants, city commuters, tourists, shoppers and diners.”

Located in the heart of Sydney’s central business district, Brookfield Place Sydney features a PCA Premium Grade, 6 Star Green Star, and 5.5 Star NABERS Energy rated office tower (10 Carrington Street).

The tower’s design maximises its connections to the adjacent restored heritage buildings of 285 George Street and Shell House. The latter is one of Sydney’s finest surviving examples of the inter-war commercial palazzo style that fuses characteristics from Italian Renaissance architecture with the pre-skyscraper buildings of the early twentieth century. Shell House’s restored glazed terracotta-tiled façade breathes new life into the iconic building and emphasise connections between the old and new. Inside, floor plates of up to 3200 sqm span across both the heritage building and new tower.
