AIA VIC Chapter awards: two projects shortlisted
State Library and regional law court up for AIA VIC Chapter awards
While COVID-19 has altered the awards process this year, it hasn’t stopped two of our favourite projects from being shortlisted in the 2020 Australian Institute of Architects Victorian Chapter awards.
A historical project for the city of Melbourne, the State Library Victoria Vision 2020 Redevelopment, designed in collaboration with Schmidt Hammer Lassen, has been shortlisted in the Heritage, Public and Interior Architecture categories, and is in the running for the acclaimed Melbourne Prize.
A significant new landmark for the city of Shepparton and a testament to quality civic architecture, the Shepparton Law Courts has been shortlisted for the Regional Prize.
Both projects were presented to the awards jury via teleconference, a process that was not without its limitations. We’re proud that despite the challenges of COVID-19, our projects are recognised for their high calibre design and the important contribution they make to their respective cities.
The winners will be announced on 10 July in an awards ceremony that will be broadcast as a YouTube live stream event that will, for the first time, be open to members and the public free of charge.
