Upcoming merger with Conrad Gargett signals further growth
for Architectus

We are proud to announce that Architectus and Conrad Gargett have entered into a strategic business partnership that will see the two culturally aligned firms merge later this year.

This partnership marks another important milestone for Architectus. With a 133-year heritage, Conrad Gargett brings with it vast experience and significant expertise in the Health, Defence and Heritage sectors which will further deepen Architectus’ service offering for clients in these sectors and support sustained growth.

Geographically, the merger will strengthen the national reach of Architectus, providing a market-leading presence in all three major eastern states.

Conrad Gargett has a well-established presence in Queensland with over 150 staff in its Brisbane, Gold Coast and Townsville studios and over 60 people in its Sydney and Melbourne studios.

Architectus CEO Ray Brown said: “Our merger with Conrad Gargett will accelerate the strong growth we’ve experienced in recent years and broaden our expertise in Health, Defence, and Heritage. Our ambition is to become Australia’s leading national architecture and design practice, and our merger with Conrad Gargett will ensure we’re well on track to achieve this.”

The partnership will see Conrad Gargett’s Managing Director, Lawrence Toaldo, join the Architectus Board.

“For 133 years, Conrad Gargett has been evolving and diversifying its offering,” said Lawrence. “Merging with Architectus marks an exciting next chapter for our practice, allowing us to offer both scale and expertise nationally and internationally.”

“We share with Architectus deep cultural synergies and a closely aligned design philosophy of creating resilient and meaningful places for people that are both poetic and pragmatic.”

The integration of the two businesses is expected to roll out over the coming year, with current operations continuing as usual for clients and current projects across both practices.
