Two high commendations at the European Healthcare Design Awards

Two Architectus Health and Education projects have received high commendations at the European Healthcare Design Awards 2026.

The University of New South Wales’ Health Translation Hub (UNSW HTH) was commended in the Design for Health and Life Sciences category, and Peninsula University Hospital, designed with Bates Smart, was commended in the Interior Design and the Arts category.

Held during the European Healthcare Design Congress in London, the awards celebrate professional excellence in the design of healthcare environments around the world.

Peninsula University Hospital – Interior Design and the Arts

A $1.1 billion overhaul for the Victorian Health Building Authority in partnership with the Exemplar Health consortium and Bayside Health, the Peninsula University Hospital project transforms the old, low-rise facility into an innovative, vertical campus. Underpinned by the principle of ‘healing Country, healing people’, co-created with the Bunurong Land Council Aboriginal Corporation, the Hospital is a powerful encapsulation of how care and place are closely intertwined.

UNSW HTH – Design for Health and Life Sciences

Designed for UNSW Sydney and Plenary Group, the UNSW HTH unites researchers, clinicians, students, industry partners and the community in a future-ready environment. Standing at the heart of the Randwick Health & Innovation Precinct, the building accelerates real-world health outcomes from laboratory bench to clinical bedside. A collaboration with ASPECT Studios and Yerrabingin, our design embeds an Indigenous reading of place, drawing on native flora with medicinal and cultural significance to support the idea of ‘Country as medicine.’
