Sydney Modern building receives 6 Star Green Star rating
The Art Gallery of New South Wales Sydney Modern building has received global recognition for sustainable design and construction with a 6 Star Green Star Design & As Built certification from the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA).
The 6 Star Green Star Design & As Built certified rating awarded to the new building, designed by SANAA with Architectus as Executive Architect and brought to life by Richard Crookes Constructions, represents international leadership in environmentally sustainable design and building practices.
The rating caps off a trio of major milestones for the Art Gallery of NSW this week as they celebrate the first anniversary of the new building and visitation to the expanded art museum surpassing 2 million.
“The Art Gallery was the first public art museum in Australia to achieve a 6 Star Green Star rating, awarded for the design of its new building and we are thrilled that this unique and innovative space has now achieved a 6 Star Green Star Design & As Built certification.”
– GBCA CEO Davina Rooney
The new Sydney Modern building has transformed the Art Gallery of NSW into a global art museum for a global city – a vital destination with almost double the exhibition space and more places for people to learn and participate in art and cultural programs.
