StartSpace opens its doors
State Library Victoria’s StartSpace officially opened
Designed by Architectus and Schmidt Hammer Lassen as part of the State Library’s Vision 2020 redevelopment, StartSpace offers a modern and dynamic element to the traditional library setting.
In an insightful interview with Australian Design Review, Principal and Melbourne Studio Leader Ruth Wilson discusses the design considerations for the space, creative challenges and findings from research undertaken which helped influence the final design. A range of varied working and collaboration areas have been created to enable different work styles and foster inclusiveness.
StartSpace will be divided into two tiers with a free membership that includes co-working spaces, a meeting room and a choice of programs, whilst the premium membership offers conference facilities and workshops and mentor sessions designed to be reconfigured for group settings.
