Unlocking greater collaboration in a single studio
Our Carabiner colleagues are now part of the Architectus team, sharing a larger, refreshed studio in Perth’s QV1 building.
Design leader and Principal David Karotkin, a key player in Carabiner’s most significant projects; National Commercial Manager Steve McDonald, former CEO of Carabiner with 30 years of delivery know-how; and experienced Senior Associates Paolo Basini and Pete Spence are all primed to deliver existing projects while also pursuing vital new work.
The team brings valuable expertise and excellent work to our practice including the recently completed Wungong Primary School – one of the state’s largest new K-6 schools. Standouts from their sports portfolio include the Sam Kerr Football Centre and the WA Institute of Sport.
Expanding our horizons and our team
With new projects underway and more opportunities emerging, we’ve made several other strategic appointments in Perth.
This week, seasoned health facility designer, Principal Toni Neck joined our busy Health team. With around 25 years in the sector, she’s built up an impressive portfolio of work ranging from regional $9 million facilities to transformative precincts valued at more than $3 billion.
Associate Principal Michael Hardman was recently appointed to our senior leadership team, bringing an outstanding track record in WA. Michael is known for his commercial acumen, natural design expertise, and laser focus on innovative yet pragmatic design solutions.
Senior Associate Paul Empson has also arrived in the studio after practicing in the USA most recently. Our Living sector will benefit from his international experience on everything from wellness retreats to large integrated resort developments to significant residential projects.
Seeking creative thinkers for Perth’s future
