Brookfield Place Sydney Best in Class at Good Design Awards
A transformative project that’s changing the way people experience part of the city, Brookfield Place Sydney has earned the top architecture award at the 2022 Australian Good Design Awards.
Brookfield Place Sydney, designed by Make Architects and Architectus for Brookfield Properties, won Best in Class for Architectural Design for successfully harnessing both heritage and sustainability elements.
The Architectural Design Jury was looking for projects demonstrating design excellence and a holistic approach. The panel also aimed to recognise projects that improved quality of life and contributed to better economic, social and environmental outcomes.
Dr Brandon Gien, CEO of Good Design Australia and Chair of the Awards said, “Brookfield Place Sydney is a highly complex mixed-use tower project harnessing heritage and sustainability elements. The designers should be complemented for the innovative solution and outstanding execution of an entire precinct within the CBD that was constructed with uninterrupted operation of the public realm. Creative solutions to a multifaceted problem highlight the rigour of the design process. The final result is a world-class transit station with proud stewardship and celebration of the site’s significant heritage elements. The full design team should be congratulated on an excellent outcome.”
Located in the heart of the CBD, Brookfield Place Sydney features a PCA Premium Grade, 6 Star Green Star, and 5.5 Star NABERS Energy rated office tower at 10 Carrington Street.
The fully integrated, transit-focused precinct incorporates:
- The restoration of heritage buildings Shell House and 285 George Street
