The Macquarie University Incubator was designed to adapt to the changing needs of its users, create a space for collaboration and innovation, and a relocatable building.

Timber was selected as the main construction material for its capacity to be beautifully engineered, swiftly fabricated to high quality, and for its potential for future dis-assembly and relocation.

Macquarie University Property Director, Mark Broomfield said:

“The Incubator is one of the best examples of innovative collaboration between client, designer, contractor and subcontractors that I’ve ever seen. Together we delivered a visionary project within budget, on-time and to a quality that exceeded everyone’s expectations.”

Macquarie University Incubator has won eleven awards since its completion in July 2017.

The DIA Awards Jury noted:

“a fascinating experimental project supporting lived student culture and the university experience. Taking the modern hubs, work and collaboration spaces and reworking these into a living laboratory; a testing ground for new ideas in working and learning. The concept, direction and delivery excite in every facet while providing a great experience for every user; C7A MAZE is a refreshing antidote to generic university spaces.”
